Um diese Frage geht es in der Stadtf\u00fchrung, die die Tourist-Information G\u00f6ttingen am Sonntag, 13. August, um 11 Uhr anbietet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>G\u00f6ttingen nahm im Leben von Carl Friedrich Gau\u00df eine zentrale Rolle ein. Die alte Sternwarte war gleichzeitig sein Arbeits- und Wohnort. Gau\u00df war Professor an der Universit\u00e4t und leistete bahnbrechende Arbeiten auf den Gebieten Mathematik, Astronomie, Geod\u00e4sie und Physik. Gemeinsam mit Wilhelm Weber hat er ab 1830 die Welt vermessen: Sie erforschten den Erdmagnetismus und bauten ausgehend von G\u00f6ttingen Messstationen auf der ganzen Welt auf. Ein \u201cAbfallprodukt\u201d dieser Forschung ist eine zukunftsweisende Erfindung: der erste funktionierende elektromagnetische Telegraf. Obwohl er mehrere Rufe an andere Universit\u00e4ten erhielt, lebte er bis zu seinem Tod in der G\u00f6ttinger Sternwarte. Das Grab von Gau\u00df befindet sich auf dem Albani Friedhof. Bei dem Rundgang werden die Orte lebendig, an denen Gau\u00df lebte und arbeitete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Karten und Treffpunkt<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die F\u00fchrung dauert etwa 120 Minuten und startet vor der Tourist-Information G\u00f6ttingen, Markt 8.
